Specific to employees based in Germany

Currently, GitLab does not provide any additional benefits over and above the mandatory state requirements. As part of the guiding principles this will be reviewed.

Compulsory Social Security Contributions

GitLab and employee contributions to pension, health insurance, care in old age insurance and unemployment insurance are mandatory, as required by the state system. The payments are calculated each month by payroll and are shown on the employee payslips.

The rates (valid as of January 1, 2018) are as follows:

Income Thresholds

Contributions are due on gross annual income up to a maximum of:

Pension/unemployment insurance: 78,000 EUR (West), 69,600 EUR (East) Health/nursing care insurance: 53,100 EUR
