Director, People Tools and Technology Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across GitLab to implement various systems to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Create and execute a 3-Year technology roadmap.
  • Create and implement a data analytics roadmap, creating data elements needed to support decision making and to create business insights.
  • Improve and automate our onboarding, career mobility and offboarding processes in particular to ensure streamlined workflows and compliance.
  • Implement tools that improve the Team Member experience at GitLab.
  • Ensure seamless data sharing from single sources of truth (Human Capital Management System) to external systems such as payroll, benefits, Okta.
  • Implement People Group support tool to streamline questions from multiple sources.
  • Implement People Group processes/iterating for efficiency.
  • Create and implement data dictionary for consistent use of People data. Implement data requirements and audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Help the People Group maintain Single Source of Truth within the handbook
  • Keep confidentiality in mind with all the projects and automations and actively look out that other People Group projects do this as well
  • Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
  • Represent GitLab and its values in public communication around specific projects and community contributions.

Director, People Tools and Technology Requirements

  • Ten+ years’ experience in People Technology, with seven+ years’ experience leading and managing a People Technology organization or Applications group at a fast growing high technology company.
  • Excellent change management skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with SaaS based solution and cloud architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and develop global People applications team in collaboration with overall People strategy.
  • Knowledgeable in compliance and information security.
  • Current on business applications, trends in People technology and experience evaluating/implementing new innovative People solutions
  • A process-oriented individual, with substantial project management skills, who has the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Candidate must have proven ability to consistently and collaboratively resolve issues, mitigate roadblocks, and meet all financial and management goals on time. Will be a self-starter who maps own direction to succeed.
  • Excellent team management, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and fast change with an ability to adapt quickly and easily. Relevant business/industry acumen with the ability to quickly and thoroughly understand business priorities, operations, and People enablement potential.

Director, Risk and Resilience Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess the most critical threats to GitLab’s Team members relating to geopolitical, environmental, and physical threats including incident response.
  • Establish GitLab’s Enterprise Risk Management framework to support program needs.
  • Develop strategic plans vital to the long-term success and efficiency of the global Business Continuity program.
  • Work with internal partners to develop Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Develop, implement, and train a core team of leaders to respond to crisis incidents impacting the company. Facilitate and train senior leaders on the Crisis Management program and processes.
  • Develop and implement GitLab’s Executive Threat Assessment Program, including protective services for employees traveling in high-risk locations
  • Manage global COVID-19 resources and response plans
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, protect employees, and the environment in a remote work environment setting
  • Provide business continuity leadership and expertise to the organization globally

Director, Risk and Resilience Requirements

  • Twenty+ years’ experience in corporate safety and security, business continuity, and emergency management. At least 10 years of this experience should be in a senior leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in corporate safety and security, business continuity, and emergency management in a diverse range of situations. Candidates should have built relevant strategies and business plans, as well as demonstrated ability to navigate an array of real life situations.
  • Has successfully led one or more risk and resilience functions, including building a team, influencing senior leadership, and developing and implementing practical strategies. Experience managing global Safety and Security policies, standards, programs, or procedures.
  • Experience leading and managing global business continuity and emergency management program.
  • Expertise in global Safety and Security legal requirements (i.e.: Regulations, Codes, Standards, Directives, and Administrative Policies) and Duty of Care.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solver, project management skills, and a strong focus on results.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and influence leadership.
  • Experience developing and implementing goals and strategies based on broader organization goals.
  • Must be able to travel domestic/international 25% of the time.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (docs, sheets, presentations)

VP People Operations, Technology & Analytics Responsibilities

  • Optimize and maintain all people technology systems and tools. Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, automation and data flow. Oversee development and management of thoughtful, scalable, People processes that balance our candidate and team member experience with compliance and legal requirements.
  • Provide operational support and partner with G&A functions to execute on all people-related processes.
  • Partner closely with peers and stakeholders across the People Group to assess existing People programs, processes, and practices, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and drive innovative solutions to enhance the team member experience.
  • Translate legal and regulatory requirements into system or process requirements and monitor the effectiveness of control design.
  • Oversee all People compliance processes and audits.
  • Consult with legal teams and global People policy, process, business, and system owners to ensure sound protocols are in place.
  • Own relevant process mapping and provide guidance to the business regarding technical solutions.
  • Use people-related data to drive better decision making and develop key metrics to measure candidate and team member happiness, performance, engagement, and retention

VP People Operations, Technology & Analytics Requirements

  • 7+ years of leading people operations in a high speed, high growth, technology-based environment
  • Advanced project management experience in handling multiple projects at once with competing priorities
  • 5+ years experience in managing people managers
  • Demonstrated experience supporting at least 2,000+ team members, across multiple countries ideally in a remote environment
  • Experience with leading and implementation of large transformational initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of People practices and procedures
  • Proven track record in implementing and scaling People processes, operations and systems
  • Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
  • Problem solver, able to troubleshoot issues independently or escalate when necessary; sense of accountability and sound professional judgment
  • Proven analytical capabilities; experience with large amounts of data and in developing audit reports, metrics, and reporting mechanisms
  • Experience building technology and people operations compliance programs and processes
  • Organized, extremely detail oriented and execution focused
  • Comfortable as a hands-on manager and willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done
