The Director of Engineering, Secure at GitLab will manage all the teams and feature development for the “defend” stage of the DevSecOps lifecycle of our application. They will recruit and manage multiple frontend and backend teams. They will collaborate heavily with both Product Management for prioritization and our internal Security Department for expertise and as an internal customer. They will report directly to the Senior Director of Development.

Responsibilities

  • Quickly recruit top engineering talent
  • Manage multiple teams totaling over 20 people
  • Directly manage Engineering Managers
  • Drive high throughput
  • Define an track key metrics for productivity

Requirements

Must haves

  • Technically credible based on past development work (including security work)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert Hiring Manager able to build teams quickly and recruit top talent
  • Strong Management Philosophy
  • Knowledge of agile project management techniques and best practices
  • Able to manage and drive up the quality of their teams' work
  • Demonstrated longevity and a track record of success at multiple organizations
  • Experience working remote, managing remotely, and/or working with remote offices
  • Leadership at GitLab
