If we don't translate our learnings from running and scaling GitLab.com (the largest GitLab-EE installation) into a default setting we will be making really expensive mistakes.
Consider the GitLabFan case when a customer tried to import his projects into an on-premise installation and found multiple blockers in the way, including one that simply should not be there: limitation of 10 projects per user.
This frustrated this customer, and they are right, we can do much better. All exceptions should be documented on the GitLab.com settings page no later than they are deployed.

We are an active participant in this community, trying to serve its needs and lead by example. We have one vision: everyone can contribute to all digital content, and our mission is to change all creative work from read-only to read-write so that everyone can contribute.
We value results, transparency, sharing, freedom, efficiency, frugality, collaboration, directness, kindness, diversity, boring solutions, and quirkiness. If these values match your personality, work ethic, and personal goals, we encourage you to visit our primer to learn more.
