Mission GitLab Cloud Connector is a way to access services common to multiple GitLab deployments, instances, and cells. GitLab customers can choose between the following deployment options:
GitLab.com’s multi-tenant SaaS offering. Deploying their own self-managed GitLab instance. Signing up for GitLab Dedicated, our managed single-tenant solution. The goal of GitLab Cloud Connector is to ensure that GitLab features can work equally across all three.
What is Gitaly? The Gitaly team is responsible for building and maintaining systems to ensure that the Git data storage tier of GitLab instances, and GitLab.com in particular, is reliable, secure and fast. For more information about Gitaly, see the README in the repository and the roadmap below.
Gitaly team consists of two subgroups, Gitaly:Cluster team and Gitaly:Git team, together referred to as Gitaly.
Functional boundary While GitLab is the primary consumer of the Gitaly project, Gitaly is a standalone product which can be used external to GitLab.
The primary user persona for Distribution is the system administrator responsible for managing a GitLab instance. The team goals are to make it as easy as possible to deploy, scale, upgrade, and fine tune a GitLab instance on a range of on-prem and cloud platforms.
